Ace Frehley, KISS Guitarist, Dead at 74 | E! News
Ace Freely, the original lead guitarist for Kiss, has died. The musician’s family confirms his passing, telling NBC News in a statement, “We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers, and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever. [Music] The star joined the band alongside Paul Stanley and Jean Simmons in 1972, departing for a solo career in 1982, but rejoining for the band’s 1996 reunion tour. Freely was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 alongside the other members of Kiss. On October 7th, the musician cancelled his solo tour dates for 2025, citing ongoing medical issues. He had previously been hospitalized for a minor fall in his studio. Ace Freely was 74 years old. Ace Frehley has been my musical hero for 40 years. When I was 13/14 years old I was able to get an older kid to tattoo his makeup on my upper left arm. I had to hide it from my mom, grandparents, teachers ect ect for years until I was an adult. The beating I could have gotten for it was worth it to me. I had to have it! It's been said thousands and thousands of times, he was the reason I wanted a guitar and wanted to learn to play it. We've lost some good people this year and they have all hurt this one hurts me the most. Now truly, all my heroes are ghosts…
