Zara Tindall was overcome with emotion when discussing her Olympic triumph with her husband Mike on his YouTube series.
Mike launched ‘Mike Drop’ in early 2023 and his wife appeared as a guest. Since marrying in 2011, the daughter of Princess Anne and the former England rugby union star have become one of Britain’s most recognisable power couples. They have three children together, Mia, Lena and Lucas.
Zara is renowned for her equestrian success at the Olympic Games. When her husband launched his video series in 2023, she joined him on the channel in a rare interview and opened up about being a mother while emotionally recollecting her medal-winning memories.
The pair sat down for a heartfelt 30-minute chat on the channel, discussing Zara’s achievements in equestrian sports. She highlighted her success with her Olympic horse, High Kingdom, who earned her a silver medal at London 2012.
Zara also shared memories of her early career, including winning two gold medals at her senior debut at the 2005 European Championships and earning an individual gold and team silver at the World Equestrian Games the following year.
She expressed joy in competing and winning for the late Trevor Hemmings, owner of High Kingdom, reflecting on the meaningful connection during the brilliant victory before his death in 2021.

“We managed to get him [High Kingdom] to the Olympics, which was incredible,” she began. “Trev, Trevor Hemmings, has won so many amazing things in his racing career, Grand Nationals and things like that.”
Zara, 44, then began to tear up, but fought through the emotion. She added: “But to see his face at the Olympics and to get that team medal was amazing.
“And to be able to give something back to him when he had supported me for so long was incredible. I’m going to get emotional now…”
Husband Mike, who turns 47 on Saturday, October 18, complimented her dedication during their chat, pointing out that she often prioritises her owners and horses, sometimes to her own disadvantage.

When not engaged in royal duties or sporting activities, Zara is known to dedicate as much time as possible to her family as a mother of three.
In the interview, Zara openly spoke about balancing motherhood and her career, including struggles with “mum guilt” and getting back in shape after the births of Mia, Lena and Lucas.
She continued, speaking to her husband: “I found it hard to get back to it. Mentally, you feel guilty leaving your child to do something else.”
Zara and Mike’s romance started during England’s Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003. Their engagement, announced in December 2010, followed Mike’s proposal to Zara with “a custom-designed diamond and platinum ring with a divided diamond band.”
