Retired NFL star Johnny Manzel is tapping out of his leadership role in Special Forces, World’s Toughest Test. On their fourth day in the Moroccan Desert, the recruits were required to crawl through tight underground tunnels and make it to their target location at the base of a signal tower half a mile away. Johnny led the team, but as they traveled along, the tunnels became darker and narrower. The tunnel has a dead end. Number 12 must find a new way out. Let’s go. Move it. Keep moving. Keep moving. There’s going to be a voice in my head numerous times throughout that is probably going to be telling me to to quit and bow out and take the easy way out. I’m back. Fighting that and resisting that urge is the main focus. I can’t get through. I can’t get through. I’m stuck. I’m stuck. Me. The team then moved backwards, but the confined spaces proved to be too much for the athlete. Let’s go. Keep moving back. Keep moving back. I’m out. No. No. You’re staying down there, 12. Johnny then walks off to reflect on his decision. My biggest struggles within myself are just giving up at times, you know, losing that battle mentally. That’s been something that, you know, I think has been a weakness for me for sure. You have to live with the decisions and the actions that you’ve made.
