Grey’s Anatomy reveals a surprise pregnancy after a character’s death. After the Shondaanda Rime show kicked off its 22nd season with the loss of Dr. Monica Beltran, played by Natalie Morales, morale was low at Grace Sloan Memorial Hospital. But Dr. Maggie Pierce, played by Kelly McCreary, lifts spirits by making a rare return and announcing she is pregnant. And Maggie confirms to Meredith Gray, played by Ellen Pompeo, and Amelia Shepard, played by Katrina Scorsone, that she is embarking on parenthood solo, saying that the father is donor number 12715. Maggie asks her fellow doctors in the October 16th episode, “You guys think I’ve lost my mind.” To which Meredith responds, maybe it’s a lot of work. Still, Meredith emphasizes, “This baby will bring you more joy and more hope than you ever thought possible, and the joy was much needed among the cast of the medical drama. After all, Camila Letington, who plays Dr. Joe Wilson, previously admits that she is not as thrilled to return for this season given what her character is going through.” She tells E!
