Sydney Sweeney enters the new DC Universe in exciting Power Girl art that shows how the actress would be perfect for the role. Sweeney is one of the most popular actresses of her generation in Hollywood, having starred in multiple box office hits after her breakout role in Euphoria. With James Gunn’s DC Universe casting many heroes, her name has come up in fan circles.

Sweeney has become a popular pick for many characters who could soon come to be part of the DCU canon. It helps that the actress already has superhero movie experience, playing one of the Spider-Women in Madame Web, which also featured DCU Hawkgirl star Isabela Merced. At 28, Sweeney could join the franchise in future DC movies and stay for a long time.

On Instagram, @comic_art_world shared DCU art of what Sydney Sweeney as Power Girl could look like.

In DC Comics, Power Girl is the Earth-2 version of Supergirl. The fan art shows Sweeney wearing Power Girl’s classic white and red suit from the comics, looking fierce as the DC hero. At this time, there have been no updates regarding Power Girl possibly coming to the DCU, but a DC series might have opened the door for her debut.

Could Sydney Sweeney Play Power Girl In James Gunn’s DC Universe?

Peacemaker season 2 just ended. The DC series explored alternate dimensions, with Peacemaker and his friends going to Earth-X and seeing alternate versions of characters from the DCU. The Quantum Unfolding Chamber is shown to lead to several different universes, so DC could easily explain Power Girl’s existence through that. Earth-2 could be part of a future DCU multiverse storyline.

What plays against Sydney Sweeney’s chances of portraying Power Girl is the fact that DC could choose to have Milly Alcock pull off a dual performance as the hero and the DCU’s Supergirl. On Earth X, DCU actors played the alternate universe versions of their characters. As such, the franchise has yet to confirm that different universes could see other actors play versions of DCU characters.

That said, with the QUC featuring doors to several different universes, it would be within reason that at least one of them is different enough from the DCU that we could see characters being played by different actors. Sweeney has the skills to make Power Girl shine, and adding star power to the DCU as it establishes itself is welcome.

Our Take On Sydney Sweeney’s Chances Of Playing Power Girl In James Gunn’s DC Universe

It sure helps Sweeney’s case to join the DCU that the actress has a few major hits under her belt. Even in a project that faltered, Madame Web, Sweeney acquired the necessary experience in a superhero franchise to help inform a possible DCU debut as Power Girl or another character. Madame Web bombing was also far from being her fault.

As DC has proved with Madame Web co-star Isabela Merced’s casting as Hawkgirl, that film would not impact Sweeney’s chances. She could easily play the confident, no-nonsense hero that is Power Girl. If DC wants to make her more compassionate and understanding to bounce off of Milly Alcock’s “party girl” Supergirl, Sydney Sweeney could also succeed in that role in the DCU.
