Miranda Kerr and Evan Spiegel’s Surprising Screen Time Rule for 4 Kids Revealed
Your husband is the founder and CEO of Snap, right? How do you guys think about social media for your kids? I think people want to know like how do you guys being so close to it, knowing how it works, especially your husband, think about it? Well, my husband is very anti-screens for the young ones because that’s the way he was raised and he’s and so I’ve kind of, you know, we’ve been together 11 years and I’ve said to him, look, something that feels good to me is just like maybe on the weekend or a special occasion, curling up with the kids, like the six and sevenyear-olds and the teenager if he wants to join in and like snuggling up and watching a movie. And he’s like, “Okay, but not every weekend.” I’m like, “Okay, that’s fine. compromise. But that’s like the extent of the screen time. Although my seven-year-old did just do a little, it was like um over the holidays he it was like a a learning program that he could do over the holidays, the summer holidays, and he learned like a little Minecraft like thing and so he was, you know, he obviously had screen time there. But then when we talk about my teenager, our teenager who is 14, almost 15, he has so I have the parental controls on his phone and then on top of that he doesn’t have social media which we think is important but he does have Snapchat which is the only way he communicates with his friends. Like they don’t really text. They just snap each other all day long. They have special things like family center on Snap and then they have this new thing called the keys that you can watch with your child to just explain some of the dangers that are happening online and you watch it with them and it explains very simply like you know what could go wrong or you know how to prevent it and when to reach out to you know someone if you feel like something’s off and then that’s the way we do it at our house. And when did you allow him to have Snap and a phone? He was like 13 and a half. [Music]
