Paris court finds ringleader and 7 others guilty in 2016 robbery of Kim Kardashian

Nine men and a woman were accused of carrying out or aiding the crime during the 2016 Fashion Week, when masked men dressed as police entered Kardashian’s Paris residence, bound her with zip-ties and vanished with $6 million in jewels.

Kim Kardashian’s “last-minute” outfit decision is turning heads.

The 44-year-old Skims founder arrived at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala on Oct. 18 wearing a strapless, nude-colored Maison Margiela gown from the fashion house’s spring 2025 haute couture collection.

The modest look’s dramatic flair came from a cinched ribcage and over-the-top accessories, which included a matching fabric mask that covered her entire head and a massive collar necklace that spanned the length of her neck.

She did “full hair and makeup for this,” Kardashian told Variety’s Marc Malkin on the red carpet. “I’ll probably take it off upstairs to eat, right?” She added that she “ate before to make sure that I was OK.”

“The Kardashians” reality star noted she’d been drawn to the look because it reminded her of the aesthetics of her Skims brand and also joked about putting her friend Mario Dedivanovic to work on her face before deciding to keep his makeup artistry hidden under the mask.

“I flew in my favorite makeup artist, Mario, from New York,” she told Malkin. “And this is kind of a last-minute thing, so I’m sure he’s not so happy with it.”

This isn’t the first time Kardashian has sported a faceless look at a major event. At the 2021 Met Gala, she showed up in a head-to-toe black Balenciaga ensemble that some compared to dementors from the “Harry Potter” movies. She also wore a more extreme black head covering during Paris Fashion Week in 2022.

The Los Angeles museum’s fifth annual gala honored Penélope Cruz, Bruce Springsteen, Bowen Yang and filmmaker Walter Salles.

The star-studded event also brought out Kardashian’s sister Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, Sydney Sweeney, Hailey Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Martin Scorsese, George Clooney, Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup.

The moviemaking-focused museum wined and dined its guests, raising $12 million for the venue’s programs and exhibitions.
