Split: Kenny Loggins and Donald TrumpDonald Trump used Kenny Loggins’ song without permission

Kenny Loggins condemned Donald Trump’s use of one of his songs and demanded the AI-generated video be taken down immediately.

Yesterday, an estimated 7 million Americans marched in the ‘No Kings’ protest of Trump’s increasingly authoritarian presidency and his unconstitutional attacks on the first amendment and other civil liberties.

In response, the president posted an AI video on Truth Social of himself wearing a crown while flying in a military-style plane dumping fecal matter on protestors set to Kenny Loggins’ Danger Zone. The 77-year-old musician claims that he was not asked permission for Trump to use the song, and that even if he did, he would not have approved.

In a statement shared with Variety on Monday, Kenny wrote, “This is an unauthorized use of my performance of ‘Danger Zone.’ Nobody asked me for my permission, which I would have denied, and I request that my recording on this video is removed immediately.”

The Footloose singer’s statement continued, “I can’t imagine why anybody would want their music used or associated with something created with the sole purpose of dividing us.”

“Too many people are trying to tear us apart, and we need to find new ways to come together. We’re all Americans, and we’re all patriotic. There is no ‘us and them’ — that’s not who we are, nor is it what we should be. It’s all of us. We’re in this together, and it is my hope that we can embrace music as a way of celebrating and uniting each and every one of us,” he added.

The song was the hit single from the 1986 soundtrack to the film Top Gun, which Trump appears to be parodying in the video.

It is estimated that almost 7 million people participated in over 2,700 No Kings protests in all 50 states to rally against the Trump administration.

Several celebrites, including Pedro Pascal, Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Jimmy Kimmel, Glenn Close, Spike Lee, and many others, showed their support by attending rallies or speaking out on social media.

Kenny Loggins isn’t the first musician to speak out against the president’s unauthorized use of his music.

Ozzy Osbourne prohibited Trump from using his music after the song Crazy Train was featured in a political ad. Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler sent two cease and desist letters after Trump used the songs Dream On and Living on the Edge at his rallies.

Vocal Trump opposer Bruce Springsteen spoke out in support of Hillary Clinton after Trump used his song Born in the U.S.A. at his rallies ahead of the 2016 election.

Neil Young threatened legal action and wrote an open letter to the president after he used the singer’s music without permission. He wrote, “Every time ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ or one of my songs is played at your rallies, I hope you hear my voice. Remember it is the voice of a tax-paying U.S. citizen who does not support you. Me.”

Similarly, Panic! at the Disco singer Brendon Urie released a statement saying, “Donald Trump represents nothing we stand for…Dear Trump Campaign, F— you. You’re not invited. Stop playing my song. No thanks, Brendon Urie, Panic! At The Disco & company”

As of Monday morning, the bizarre video featuring the unauthorized use of Kenny Loggins’ song is still up on Trump’s social media platform.
