A Prison Break Reboot Is Underway 8 Years After Series End | E! News

Prison Break is coming back to the screen. The beloved series will find a new life on Hulu with the streaming giant greenlighting a reboot eight years after the original closed its doors for good. And while the show’s first iteration starred Wentworth Miller, Dominic Pcel, Sarah Wayne Callie’s, and William Fitner, there will be a new batch of convicts leading the reboot. The new series will star Lucas Gage, Emily Browning, Drake Roger, and many more. According to Deadline, Emily stars as Cassidy, a soldier turned corrections officer who takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves. And while the new project is set in the same prison break universe per deadline, it is independent of the original and isn’t expected to include any of the first series characters. The original series saw Wentworth stars engineer Michael Scoffield, who gets himself a job out of prison to rescue his brother Lincoln Burroughs, played by Dominic, from a death sentence over a crime he did not commit. The series ran from 2005 to 2009, returning for a revival season in 2017. And years after the last season aired, Wentworth, who came out as gay in 2013, shared why he didn’t plan on delving back into the prison break world, writing on social media in 2020, “I’m out of PB officially, not because of static on social media, although that has centered the issue. I just don’t want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told and told,” he continued. So, no more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons, I understand this is disappointing.
