If you’ve kept up with the Kardashians, you’ve probably heard the long-running (and unfounded) rumor that Robert Kardashian, Sr. isn’t Khloé Kardashian’s biological dad.

Fans have pointed out physical differences between Khloé and the other Kardashian siblings for years, but the rumors gained traction in 2011 when Kris Jenner revealed that she had an affair during her marriage to Robert. The rumors intensified in 2012 when model Jan Ashley — who married Robert after his divorce from Kris — claimed he told her Khloé wasn’t his biological daughter — a claim that was supported by his third wife, Ellen.

“Khloé is not his kid,” Jan told Star magazine (via TV Guide). “He told me that after we got married. He just kind of looked at me and said [it] like it was a matter of fact. He said, ‘Well, you know that Khloé’s not really a Kardashian, don’t you?’ And I said…’OK,’ and that was it.”

Khloé and Kris pushed back on the claims at the time, but the rumors persisted. And during a 2012 interview, Savannah Guthrie decided to ask Khloé about it — which is something she says she now regrets.

Savannah expressed her regret over the moment in a recent interview on Today, when she was asked about her most embarrassing moment on the show. She said, “I asked Khloé Kardashian, like, 10 seconds before we were going to break about the rumors that her father wasn’t her father, and I was so embarrassed because I felt, like, all this pressure.”

Savannah said she really “didn’t want to” ask, but she’d felt pressured because she had just started at Today. “I felt like the producers wanted me to ask this dishy question, but I didn’t want to,” she shared, “so I let the time be running out ’til we were up against a hard break, so at the very end, I’m like, ‘And Khloé, what about this rumor that Robert Kardashian is not really your father?’ And they were like, ’10, nine, eight,’ and I was so embarrassed, and she was such a class act, and she’s like, ‘Ah, nothing to it.'”

She added, “Khloé was a total class act and a doll.”

And based on Khloé’s response, it seems there are no hard feelings. Reacting to the clip below E News! Kards Katch Up Instagram page, Khloé wrote, “She’s a doll! It takes a big person to take accountability and I just love her! ❤️❤️❤️ 👑👑👑👑”

In the clip, Khloé and Savannah were talking about Khloé & Lamar, the show she was filming with her then-husband, Lamar Odom, and their plans to expand their family. Khloé was finishing up when Savannah rushed in to ask Khloé about the paternity rumors before the commercial break. “Very quickly, speaking of rumors — actually, I think we’re out of time — I was gonna ask, nothing more to say about what people said about your father, your biological father?” she asked. Khloé’s smile noticeably faded as the topic shifted. Laughing uncomfortably, she replied, “I don’t know who my daddy is, I guess.” You can see the moment here.
