I always felt that Madonna was able to channel old Hollywood glam better than almost all of her contemporaries because she had a fairly sophisticated understanding of movie history and was herself a fan of classic cinema. It was never a stylist saying, “I’m going to dress you like Harlow or Dietrich,” but Madonna herself wanting to capture the individual elements that made those stars and their films so iconic.
Anyway, this was a gorgeous shoot even if it was at Mar a Lago.
