Justin Timberlake is finally home with Jessica Biel and their two sons, Silas, 10, and Phineas, 5, after his world tour, but things might not be going as smoothly as the couple had hoped.
In addition to the 44-year-old musician’s Lyme disease diagnosis, Biel is dealing with her husband’s “mid-life artistic crisis,” according to a Star Magazine source. While the 43-year-old actress “has focused and re-committed to her TV career” in the vein of producers like Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, Timberlake is reportedly “stuck in the past.”

“Individually, they’re totally fine to be around, but when they’re together, you can feel the tension. Justin’s apparent midlife artistic crisis and embarrassing arrest did nothing to improve the situation, and it’s down to Jessica to hold the family together, but it all feels very temporary and tentative,” the insider continued. “You get the sense that one more crisis, or one more little screw-up by Justin, and the whole thing falls apart.”
The couple has weathered through more than their share of storms in their 13-year marriage — from his rumored affair with Palmer co-star Alisha Wainwright while Biel was pregnant with their second son to his DWI arrest in 2024. Still, Biel has remained faithfully by his side.
“They’ve been married for a long time,” a source shared with People in October 2024. “They have to work on their marriage like most couples. Being working parents is never easy.”
But the 7th Heaven star’s friends also have an opinion. “Behind the scenes, Jessica’s friends have talked to her about his behavior — they hate that so much of her life is about keeping Justin on track when he’s drinking and partying with friends,” an In Touch Weekly insider revealed a year ago.
Biel doesn’t look at her marriage to Timberlake through rose-colored glasses, though — she’s realistic. “It’s always a work in progress, right? It’s constantly trying to find the balance, trying to find the time,” she told The View in May 2024.
Hopefully, it’s just a bump in the road for Biel and Timberlake as they sort through his creative obstacles.
