Sarah Ferguson’s spokesperson has responded to claims of a “monumental snub” from Queen Camilla, following the loss of her Duchess of York title amid a widely reported scandal involving her former husband, Prince Andrew. During a week that has seen Andrew surrender his own titles, including the Duke of York, whilst facing ongoing scrutiny over his connections to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, his former wife Ferguson has suffered a comparable setback.

Unlike the former pair’s daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie (who will both retain their princess titles), Ferguson will no longer possess the Royal status of duchess and will simply be referred to as Sarah Ferguson.

It’s also understood that Andrew, who continues to “vigorously deny the accusations” against him, will remain at the £30million Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, a property he shares with Ferguson.

However, according to the Daily Mail’s Ephraim Hardcastle, this isn’t the sole Royal “snub” that she has encountered. He alleged that Ferguson, whom he suggests regards herself as “quite the lady of letters”, was “rebuffed” by Queen Camilla after supposedly proposing a collaboration on her upcoming children’s book, Flora and Fern: Kindness Along The Way.

He wrote: “Before being sacked as a Duchess, Sarah Ferguson suffered a monumental snub from Queen Camilla.”

The journalist added: “Well-read Camilla founded her hugely successful online Reading Room in 2021 to promote literature and encourage reading. None of Sarah’s literary gems have ever appeared on the Queen’s recommended reading lists.

“With the imminent release of her latest, Flora and Fern: Kindness Along The Way, Fergie suggested a collaboration between her and Queen Camilla. Her proposal was firmly rebuffed.”

However, a spokesperson representing Ferguson, speaking exclusively to Reach Plc, has denied any claims of a snub from Camilla, nor a proposed collaboration.

Ferguson, who, according to Hello!, has sold “everything from fountain pens to food blenders”, has established a notable writing career through the years, creating both romantic stories and children’s literature.

Flora and Fern: Kindness Along the Way is a picture book featuring a message of “kindness and community at its heart” that follows the exploits of titular characters Flora and Fern, reports The Bookseller.

Meanwhile, in additional proof of the Queen’s commitment to literature, the official website for her Reading Room explains how the initiative aims to “celebrate and promote the power and benefits of reading”.

It also includes remarks from the Queen on the page, outlining how books had “enriched” her life since childhood, and Her Majesty highlights their “extraordinary power to educate and inspire”.

She was quoted as saying: “It has therefore been such a joy to watch my Reading Room grow over the years into a thriving book community.

“Now a charity, I hope that we, together with our partners, can foster in adults and children alike a lifelong love of literature and connect more people with that special magic that can only be found in the leaves of a book.”

The MEN has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.
