A television actress is dead at 23, weeks after starring on a new show.
Isabelle “Izzy” Tate, who appeared in the pilot episode of ABC’s new TV series “9-1-1: Nashville,” died Sunday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It was her first role as an adult after acting and modeling as a child, her representative at the McCray Agency said.
The cause of death was Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, rep Kim McCray told Entertainment Weekly. The rare neurological disorder includes “inherited conditions that cause nerve damage,” mainly to the arms and legs, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Country star Alan Jackson announced that he was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease in 2021. He said he’ll play his final concert next year due to his health condition.
“We are deeply saddened and completely heartbroken to share that Isabelle Tate passed away,” McCray wrote on social media. “I’ve known Izzy since she was a teenager and she recently returned to acting. She booked the first series she auditioned for, ‘9-1-1: Nashville.’ She had a wonderful time.”
Tate appeared on the first episode of “9-1-1: Nashville” when it aired Oct. 6 on ABC. The episode was shot in June, according to EW.
The new Tennessee-centered spinoff of “9-1-1,” a first-responder franchise created by Ryan Murphy, stars Jessica Capshaw, Chris O’Donnell and LeAnn Rimes. Next week’s episode will include a tribute to Tate, EW said.
According to her obituary, Tate had graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. She aspired to be an actress and also loved volunteering at an animal shelter.
“Isabelle was full of fire, a fighter, never once making excuses for the fact that she might have a disability relative to others. She was also quite musically inclined, often spending hours writing and recording songs with friends and even publishing a few,” her obit said. “What she loved the most though was spending time with family and friends, always the life of the party. Her sister was her best friend and her mom was her shining beacon of light.
Survivors include her mother Katerina Kazakos Tate, stepfather Vishnu Jayamohan, father John Daniel Tate, and sister Daniella Tate.
A funeral will be held Friday in Brentwood, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Isabelle Tate’s name to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Assocation (CMTA).
