Mr. Andy Garcia, you are being honored today. The Vanguard Award. What does it mean to receive this prestigious recognition? Surprise. You know, these kind of things that’s sneak up on you. You know, I don’t, you know, it’s a great privilege. Obviously, I feel very touched by the that people, you know, I guess over the years I’ve been paying attention, you know, to what I’m doing. So, you kind of just live in a vacuum. I mean, you kind of go to work, you go home, you know, and and it’s not like the theater where you have immediate responses to things, you know, you you get the chance to work on something and then it just it goes off and people see it or don’t see it and you don’t really know the reaction to it, but you know, it’s I feel very touched by it. You recently posted some tributes to Diane Katon. Do you have a favorite memory with her? Oh, there’s so many. You know, so many. I met her on the Godfather and I think in that post I showed some pictures that I took of her in Sicily. Beautiful. Yeah. And uh I had him in an old album there when my wife said, “Look at these images that you took of Diane.” And she was uh she’s a unicorn, you know. She’s a a unique unique spirit. It’s un it’s undefinable. You know, the she was an American original. And uh and I you know, I got a chance also to work opposite her many times. And so that was a great blessing. You’re stepping back into the directing saddle. We can’t wait to see that wrapped last night. Yeah. Oh my gosh. So what was it like to to be back in that space? Well, you know, it’s an independent film, so it’s 25 days, you know, 10 to 12 hour days. I was also acting in the piece, so it was it was it’s it’s tough, but it was a it was a dream come true. You know, I’ve been trying to make this movie for like 15 years. So, so you can imagine how we all feel about it. We know Bill Murray was attached. So, does that mean y’all got some rounds in between takes? No. He’s got a better handicap. You or Bill? I think we’re about the same probably. He just shot He told me he shot a 75 that he shot his age at the old course in St. Andrews, which is quite unique, you know. So, that is impressive. Okay, everyone is dying for the Mama Mia T. What do you know? Has anyone called you yet? No. No. you know, it’s going to happen. And if it does happen, will you be a part of it? If they want me to be, you’re asking things that I’m in no control of, you know, but I would love to be. There was a great experience and, you know, getting a chance to play with Sher. I mean, that’s a that’s a bucket list thing, you know. So, yeah. Well, it sounds like everyone from the cast who’s been asked said, “Yes, let’s do it.” And we’re all dying and salivating for it. So, I’m sure there’s an audience for it, you know, but I we see what what’s going on. I don’t know. [Music]
