The world’s last Blockbuster store is located in Bend, Oregon, United States. It is a franchised film rental store that has survived thanks to the support of the local community and the determination of its staff.

I worked at Blockbuster when I was at Uni. The pay was terrible, hours were crap, but I got ten free rentals a week and I loved it so much. I ended up leaving after a string of bad managers, but at one point I considered training to be a manager myself.
The problem was they started to focus way too much on selling games and consoles, and that just wasn’t their market. Our tiny local store became 2/3s game sales, and the students coming in for 3 DVDs for £10 every week didn’t want to pre-order a brand new console each year, nor did the families after the £1 kids movies. It was a bummer.
