Megan Thee Stallion talks about paid campaigns against her: “Don’t it seem a little weird how overwhelming a lot of Megan Thee Stallion seem? That don’t seem right do it? It’s not, because people are getting paid to do this”

My takeaway from the Blake Lively/Justin Baldoni series was that there are marketing consultants who are paid to orchestrate negative publicity campaigns against someone

    2. Funny how hating on celebs turned into a group project with funding. The internet always finds a way to go extra.

It’s really concerning how rapidly the rise in online campaigns against famous women has increased since Heard/Depp. The Baldoni case explicitly using social media as a weapon is not an exception to the rule, it’s part of the trend now. I’m not saying any dislike of a famous woman is co-opted but when it comes to Meg, I 100% believe real people and bots against her are bought and paid for.

    4. I think it actually goes both ways. They can do a positive campaign or a negative one.

One of the hosts of podcast celebrity memoir bookclub Claire who gets a lot of hate on Reddit talked on a patron ep that met up with the head of a social media company who promised her that if she signs with them they can change their perception of her online. And showed her multiple examples of celebrities and a really famous influencer that he has done that with. She said that they use real accounts and they either have employees with multiple active accounts and pay people to post.

I have suspicions that these campaigns have infected Reddit too.

    5. Hmm okay: black woman, talented, and intelligent. Yup, the perfect target for the neckbeards and people who love to indulge in misongynoir. Yuck
