For me it's probably Enchanted and The Princess Diaries. I know the concept was to make her wear a modern dress compared to the fairytale inspired dresses she used to wear but I feel like this dress is an absolute disgrace. It honestly looks like a sock to me 😭 not gonna lie they could have let her wear something nice, like the costume design in this movie was magical. In the Princess Diaries they get rid of Mia's curls. They could just styled them better.

As a kid I always thought she looked cool and individual before and then like your least favourite cousin after

Breakfast Club is a famous one. Just stole all her personality.

The 3 first comments being all about The Breakfast Club is sending me 💀💀 they’re so right tho. And the Enchanted “makeover” was EMBARRASSING 🗣️
I love that every comment on this thread is the exact same example we all thought the same thing lol
To add another one: She’s All That is also sad. She looks pretty either way but still.
shrek. i liked the ogre just the way he was.

Unconventional one but in The Little Vampire, the transformation at the end is absolutely a great thing. But aesthetically such a downgrade from the amazing costume design and styling the characters had.

One that always pissed me off was Anne Hathaway in Devil Wears Prada, calling her “fat”prior to her style transformation. Like what?

Why did they do Halle this way?

Yes I know “she’s got glasses” but Julia Ormond had some of the most magnificent hair of the 90s and cutting it off was a crime.

I get that this one’s kind of meant to be a joke because they each change to fit what they think the other one wants, but as a kid I absolutely HATED Sandy’s makeover at the end of Grease
I just rewatched The Faculty last week and Stokely’s makeover downgrade feels so reminiscent of the Breakfast Club that I’d almost argue that it’s an homage.

And of course they straightened her hair 😒
Poor Giselle, they gave her that mid 2000s eye makeup that YouTubers convinced us looked great on everyone.
Oh, Pretty in Pink is the top of my list! Molly Ringwald’s character is supposed to be this incredible designer, she takes a perfect vintage dress and creates this.

>I know the concept was to make her wear a modern dress compared to the fairytale inspired dresses she used to wear but I feel like this dress is an absolute disgrace.
Off-topic but I thought the point was that it’s meant to be unnatural, that she’s forcing herself to try to fit into the modern world instead of being her magical self, which is also emphasised by her wearing the dress to a fantasy-themed masquerade ball where her normal princess dresses and styling would fit in perfectly.
I thought of Mia, too! Justice for correctly styled curls!
The Princess Diaries makeover only makes sense in the context of the time period. In 2001, big curls were _out._ This was the beginning of the era of the straightening iron.
Of course, less than ten years earlier big frizzy curls were the height of rom-com fashion. See: literally anything with Julia Roberts.
Lol just watched Enchanted for the first time and I said the same exact thing
As a kid I always thought the suits at the finales of both Batman Forever and Batman & Robin were worse than the standard suits. That count?

Ughhh I wish they would stop taking away the curly hair! I wish so badly my hair was curly.
I’m still mad about that Enchanted dress. I get that she was meant to be “real-world fancy” whereas they all dressed “fantasy fancy”, but it was such a bland choice.

The curls were so pretty on her.
Honestly I felt this with pretty much every animated princess movie, I always like the peasant outfits over the princess glowups
