Jeff Bridges’ message to Senators as millions are set to lose SNAP due to government shutdown: “It’s so bizarre here in the wealthiest country in the world, we have enough food, money, programs to end childhood hunger. And to use feeding kids as a weapon, going back & forth, doesn’t make any sense.”

No money in feeding children, and business interests are what most politicians serve as far as Im concerned. It’s a sad world.

    2. Don’t forget the Christian nation part too. What would Jesus do? Uh, he’d fucking feed people.

People are seemingly very surprised the republicans would do something like this as if they haven’t been vehemently against free school lunch for years and cut huge chunks of snap/wic just a few months ago.

      They don’t care about kids.

    4. I saw a comment on Instagram recently saying ‘if kids go a little hungry, it’s not the end of the world’ with regards to the loss of SNAP benefits. It blows my mind because I work for a non-profit and our end of year campaign is focused on hunger – both the short term and long term effects it has on children – and that someone (presumably in the US) doesn’t realize that hunger isn’t just, oh they only eat two meals a day, is baffling.

I’m not American but from the outside this honestly feels like watching a car crash in slow motion. This breaks my heart. There’s truly nothing I can do as a Canadian (and hell, we have our own food insecurity issues here too), and it feels so helpless. I honestly don’t know how anyone is going to make it through the next 3 years and my heart feels so broken.
