i wanna give a shout out to the author of that ebony magazine article bc tbh i don’t think this would be happening if it wasn’t for that

    2. As a black woman I will say I find a lot of this outrage to be performative and I can’t help but think it’s because Huda is Palestinian and a young single mother. A child cold called her out of the blue after she got her wisdom teeth out and said a slur and she laughed. People laugh at things that awkward and when they are uncomfortable. I probably would have laughed too.

None of the men on the show face any of this kind of criticism. For example, take Nic and Austin. Nic posted his white friend saying the n word and anti Asian comments. Austin made racist comments. They received no backlash and fans love them.

A black contestant even called out fans sending him racist messages from people who were upset that he wasn’t speaking out about the situation.

      Just some food for thought…

I want to start off by saying Huda was absolutely wrong and I found her apology to be disingenuous. I really liked her before but I lost respect for her after I saw the video, and Olandria shouldn’t have to go through something like that.

That being said, I do find it interesting that no one of the cast ever spoke up about the racism Huda experienced when coming out the Villa. It’s simply an observation and I’m absolutely not saying what happened afterwards was okay.

    4. RIP to their DMs, Huda’s legion of middle school fanatics will have the whole weekend to be annoying before school starts on monday.

    5. as a black girl I do feel a lot of the reaction is performative, people described this as her bursting out laughing but the actual videos shows a childs’ voice saying it, her doing an awkward laugh with the guy and then saying that isn’t right so idk….like there’s no part of the video that gave racist except for the troll caller

    6. Good!!! Her excuse of a response laughing at a racial slur isn’t an ‘awkward reaction’ it’s a reflection of what you’re comfortable with. Most people who understand the weight of that slur don’t find it laughable in ANY context.

If her instinct was to laugh, she needs to ask herself why. What about that moment felt funny instead of wrong? What discomfort have you not processed that you laugh at a SLUR?

And Louis’ response… as if dating someone who’s Black grants you a free pass??? Proximity isn’t the same as understanding or respecting it. And yes… Louis, POC, including you, aren’t exempt from internalizing racism.

Let’s remember being anti-racist goes beyond not saying slurs. We need to recognize when something harmful happens and REFUSE to be complicit in it. And that’s the lesson I hope they learn.

The performative activism of the love island fanbase is actually scary. Yes huda should not have laughed at a slur and it’s good that she is getting in trouble for that. However where is this same outrage from the cast towards the actual racists in the cast like Cierra, Nic and Austin? The cast still follows and parties with them. Or does nic and Austin get the pass because they are friends with ola? Or what about the multiple trumped and republicans this season. Or the fact that multiple cast members refuse to acknowledge Palestine after fans ask them too???

But brands will still work with Nic who made racist posts about Asian people in a medical setting. Ok…

It would be so cool if we collectively stopped making complete idiots rich and famous.

I actually thought Huda was the creator of Huda Beauty until seeing this post. Sorry, not that into make up but super glad they went in this direction.

    11. Good! Play stupid and racist games, win stupid prizes. Hopefully other brands follow suit and end any partnerships with her too.

Huda has, time and time again, done some sketchy shit and then only comes out with an apology after it’s coaxed out of her. She plays really dumb but is very sharp to anything towards her. We saw this on and off love island. She should have never been popularized because it only greenlit her shitty character.
