Days of Our Lives’ Suzanne Rogers Shares Cancer Diagnosis | E! News

Days of Our Live star Suzanne Rogers revealing her cancer diagnosis in a new interview. The actress, who’s been on the soap opera for a staggering 52 years, tells TV Insider in an interview published October 30th that she was diagnosed with cancer this past summer. She tells the outlet she learned she had stage 2 colorectile cancer after several tests. Rogers tells the outlet it was all a shock. I mean, I think I was in shock for several days because I take pretty good care of myself. She says her doctor told her, “It’s a good thing you caught it in time.” The 82-year-old wrapped filming on June 13th and began treatment 3 days later, telling TV Insider, “It was radiation every day and chemo every day for 6 weeks, and it was tough. It was tough knowing you had to do it 5 days a week, and then you had off Saturday and Sunday. I thoroughly enjoyed my weekends because I didn’t have to go and see a doctor. I was so tired of seeing doctors. The soap took a six-week hiatus and that made her absence from the set less noticeable with Suzanne explaining, “I was able to keep it under wraps and then the show took that break, so it wasn’t necessary to get into it all then. It helped me because it gave me even more time to chill and get myself healthy.” According to TV Insider, Rogers completed treatment on July 31st and says, “I’m feeling really good. I start back to work next week, so we’ll see how that goes.” The show also says in a statement posted to Instagram, “We are delighted that Suzanne has come through this challenge with her trademark grace and strength. Fans will be glad to know that Maggie will remain a constant presence in Salem.” Adding, “Her absence on air from the show next year will be minimal. [Music]
