Prince Harry sat down with Hasan Minhaj to talk about the dangers of the internet, specifically AI, but before getting into the hard stuff, Minhaj asked Harry if he could pull of an American accent.
The short answer is, kind of, but it took the Duke about five tries to get there..
Minhaj gave Harry a sentence to start with, asking him to say: “I ordered breadsticks with ranch dressing from Applebee’s.”

According to Minhaj, host of Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know podcast, this is the most American sentence he could think of and a great way to get the Duke started.
Harry gave it his best shot but struggled a little bit, with Minhaj giving him some tips, for example what words and what letters to emphasize.

Harry didn’t quite get there with his British accent coming through with the host giving him a different sentence, asking him to say: “Hey, do you like my cybertruck?” Again, he did say the words, but it didn’t quite sound American, it sounded more cartoonish, but with that said, Harry did finally get it.
He could hear the crew laughing, which he found “encouraging,” but on second though, he realized they may be “mocking” him, with Harry exclaiming: “Come on, y’all!!”

Right then and there — ding, ding, ding — he got it. He got it when he stopped trying so hard.
Minhaj heard it and turned to him, saying: “There we go. There it is.” Harry smiled sweetly, almost like a little boy getting an A+ on a school assignment. He may have been relieved that he was no longer in the hot seat.
Coincidentally with the conversation revolving around the digital age, it appears the internet highly enjoyed the exchange with the X clip receiving 28.8K views, 954 likes and 188 shares.

And while people enjoyed the exercise, one of the draws of being a member of the British Royal Family is the accent. One X user wrote: “He actually did a good job, it just sounds so wrong to hear him without his British accent”
A second user was impressed by his American accent: “He did good on the cyber truck sentence! Lmaooo!”
A third user thinks he needs some more practice: “He needs more lessons from the Duchess.’
