Justin Baldoni’s $400M lawsuit against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds reaches dramatic conclusion

Part of the high-profile lawsuit involving Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds has come to an end, at least for now. On October 31st, US District Court Judge Lewis Lyman entered a final judgment in the $400 million defamation and extortion counter suit filed by Baldoni and his production company Wayfairer Studios against Lively and Reynolds. According to court documents obtained by page six, Judge Lyman ruled that Baldon and his co-plaintiffs missed the deadline to file an amended complaint, effectively ending the case. The judge noted that he had reached out to all parties in mid-occtober to warn them of his intent to close the case and that Blake Lively was the only one to respond. Lively requested that her petition for legal fees remain active, a request Judge Lyman granted. Baljon’s counters suit filed in January followed Lively’s December 2024 lawsuit accusing her It Ends With Us co-star and director of sexual harassment and retaliation. The New York Times was the first outlet to report on Lively’s allegations. In June, Judge Lyman dismissed both Baldon’s $400 million counter suit and his separate $250 million liel lawsuit against the New York Times, ruling that the claims lack sufficient legal grounds. In his decision, Lyman wrote that Baldon’s team failed to allege that Lively was responsible for any statements beyond those made in her official complaint to the California Civil Rights Department, which are legally protected and privileged. The judge added that Baldon’s claims against Reynolds, Lively’s publicist, Leslie Sloan, and the New York Times did not meet the standard for defamation, as the plaintiffs did not show that those parties seriously doubted the truth of their statements. Belon has continued to deny all allegations made by Lively. Her lawsuit, which remains active, is scheduled to go to trial in March 2026. [Music]
