Jesse Eisenberg & Isla Fisher On The Magic Behind Now You See Me 3
And it was something like I’m supposed to say like skirt skirt. I don’t even I can’t even pronounce it. Bigger and better than anything you have ever seen. But now or never. What’s the trick? I’m Beck from Pedestrian TV. How are you guys? Good evening. Good. How are you? Going great. Now, jumping right into it. How does it feel to be returning to such a beloved franchise after almost 10 years? So good. We were just saying that like, you know, both of us really appreciate that this is the kind of film that people come up to us on the street and say, “When’s there’s another one? When is there another one?” And I think it is it’s like as you get older, even though it’s like really exciting to make choices for your own career trajectory or the things that interest you, it’s equally pleasing to make stuff that people around you enjoy. Like for me, my kids weirdly discovered Now You See Me. um honestly about 4 months before suddenly the third one you know the third installment became an actual thing and it was such a great movie then because if id said I’m off to Budapest for three months and be back and forth every weekend but basically gone for a bit they would have been just devastated but you add in that I’m going to be working with the horsemen and the kids are like over the moon. Yeah. Yeah. And did you have anything to add to that Jesse? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It’s this is like the greatest thing for me in the world. I love it so much. I mean, it’s the most fun experience. It’s the greatest cast to work with. But like the thing that Isa said, like this is the movie I’m in that people like the most. I can tell because I, you know, uh, I get stopped on the street more about doing this movie. Um, you know, people are always asking me, “Is there going to be another Now You See Me?” Like, people love these movies so much. So, you get a sense like of what people want to see just by being in the world and hearing what people like that you’ve been in. And so, I was so thrilled to get to do another one. Yeah, 100%. Now, this movie in particular is a lot about passing the baton to a new generation. Obviously, that actually every time it’s been said, it’s like a shiver down my spine. I thought it was about us, but okay. We like to say that we introduced these new characters into an already thriving community of people. We did the hard work. We laid the foundation. They’ve just come in and risen on our glory. Yeah. As they said, you guys walked so they could run, right? That’s right. Well, obviously that leads to a lot of clashes. And on set, was there any moments where you guys had any um basically culture shock moments like dealing with the younger cast? Like for example, dealing with slang words or like any pop culture references that you might not get. Well, I have an 18-year-old and 15-year-old, so I was kind of I think I was sort of okay with most of that. I actually felt like um you know someone like Dom feels older than I am in some ways. Like he’s quite like uh I don’t know. I did not really notice their age difference. No, not really. Like the only thing that was interesting to me was the exact opposite of what I expected which was that like um I was asking them like is this cool for you guys? Like is this cool? And Ariana’s so cool. She was like no that’s something people think about our generation. That’s not true at all. Don’t say that. You sound like a And so it was the exact opposite. I thought I had to like, you know, get up to their speed or whatever. And it was just the opposite. She’s like, “Stop doing any of that. None of us to actually do that stuff.” Wait, can you spill on what that was? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, for example, I had a line in a scene with her and it was something like I’m supposed to say like skirt. Skirt. I don’t even I can’t even pronounce it. Skirt. What is it? Skibbidity bop. No. And I was like I said, Ariana, is this And I was saying it to like try to appeal to them. I was like, “Ariana, should I should I say this or do I sound like an idiot?” And she was like, “Yeah, yeah. No one says that. I’ve never actually heard that. Don’t say that. You sound like an idiot.” Love that. Love that. Now, Isa, we all know you back home from your time on Home and Away. Shout out to Summer Bay. Who do you think on Home and Away would have been a part of The Horsemen? Oh, who would have been part of the Horsemen? Probably Alf. I feel like he would have been an honorary member of the Horseman. He’s kind of like good at planning things, quite organized. Well, isn’t that flaming typical of all the low mongrel acts that would have to just about take the cake?
