Marshawn Kneeland, Dallas Cowboys Player, Dead at 24 | E! News
The NFL is mourning the loss of Marshon Neland, the defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys, died on November 6th at the age of 24, his team confirmed. In a statement on X, the Cowboys write, “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshon are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family. And Marshon’s agent, Jonathan Persley, who described the NFL player as a dearest friend, released a statement of his own, writing, “Marshon poured his heart into every snap, every practice, and every moment on the field. To lose someone with his talent, spirit, and goodness is a pain I can hardly put into words.” Marshon was drafted in 2024 as the Cowboys second round pick during his almost two seasons on the team. The 24year-old amassed 26 tackles and one sack across 18 games, including four starts. His death also comes just days after he scored his first career touchdown in the Cowboys November 3rd game against the Arizona Cardinals. The cause of death has not yet been released. Frisco, Texas police confirmed to NBC News on November 6th that the athlete was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after evading authorities, crashing a car, and fleeing on foot. A statement from the Frisco Police Department says that the case and manner of death will be determined by the Colin County Medical Examiner’s Office and that police are investigating the case as a possible suicide.
