She Oscar baited so hard playing a gay female boxer (despite voting for politicians that want to take LGBTQ rights away), poured her own money into the project and it flopped lmao, can she go away now?

She’s flopping now but I get the sinking feeling that she’s going to go away for a few years after this, come back and say all the right things and people will conveniently forget how awful she is once she wins an award for some mediocre biopic.

She isn’t a good actress. Decent enough to get roles, pretty enough to be casted. But a good actress she is not.
I begrudgingly saw this at TIFF, and I missed the intro to the film because I had to pee… So I didn’t realize that it was a true story, and I could not for the life of me figure out why we were cramming so much info into one film… I really didn’t enjoy most of it, it felt so rushed and the acting on SS’s part was just so bad.
Once I found out it was a true story (and Christy was there at the screening) I can appreciate the story and how much of a bad ass Christy is but truly I do not think this is a star performance from SS.
In conclusion, unless you can see this in person with the real life counterpart sitting in front of you, I wouldn’t spend any of your hard earned money seeing this. I would say, take that $$ and give it to the domestic violence organization of your choice.
Between this, Eden and Americana she’s had an impressive year of flops.

The attempt at making her a serious actress feels like a mistake.
She came way too late, but she would’ve been perfect for a silly USA Network show that lasted for like 5 seasons where she played a secret agent with beefcake costars. Basically the 90s Pam Anderson type.
Go fash, lose cash
She’s so fascinating to me because I knew she was a bad actress since I watched the voyeurs, and I feel like she was going the white feminist route after ppl criticized her characters excessive nudity in Euphoria, and then maga adopted her and she’s been grifting while STILL trying to be a serious actress and getting so much work, often funded herself.
It’s strange because I feel like she’s the most casted Euphoria alum but also the least talented by very far. I feel like if she stuck in an indie lane or did rom coms she would eventually get there, but the heavy Oscar bait while trying to smugly play the media and culture wave is biting her in the ass because she just DOES NOT have the talent for it. A more talented person and/or more established actress could get away with it, but she neither of those things.
It feels like she’s stuck in like four-five years ago when fake feminists would call this empowering or playing the game but she has either got to get another acting coach or pr team or both because DAMN.
Waiting for all the conservatives who claim to love Sydney Sweeney and care oh-so-deeply about women’s sports to show up to support this.
