Marlee Matlin refused to allow a hearing actor to play her Deaf husband in the Academy Award-winning 2021 film “CODA.” Troy Kotsur ended up with the role that would eventually win him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

It’s crazy how forgotten this movie is as a best picture winner. Especially because it went against Dune, Belfast, and Licorice Pizza all which I personally found better overall. Troy Kotsur was hilarious tho in his cameo for Curb Your Enthusiasm.

This was such a great documentary- if you haven’t seen it, you can probably watch it on the PBS app for free.

Absolutely good for her! I’m glad the studio actually agreed in the end too
