Baker, the American dancer and singer—and outspoken civil rights activist—who famously made her home in France, lived in there from 1927 to 1947, according to the Societe D’histoire Du Vesinet. 

    Across the world, another American singer’s former home is up for sale. A striking black, barrel-roofed home built for Jane’s Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell in Venice, California, came to market recently asking $2.65 million.

    Designed by architect Steven Ehrlich in the early 1990s, the domed house on Glencoe Avenue doubled as a studio for the rocker.
