Chad Michael Murray reveals he pleaded to not be in a particular One Tree Hill scene back in the day. The actor shares his thoughts on being part of the storyline in which his character Lucas Scott’s dad and series antagonist Dan Scott, played by actor Paul Johansson, was meant to receive a heart transplant. The scene in question, which occurred in the 18th episode of season 6, followed Dan as he awaited surgery for his new heart. However, just as the organ arrived at the hospital, the EMT carrying the organ tripped over the leash of a golden retriever in the waiting room, and the dog sprang free, grabbing the heart just as it landed on the ground. Chad tells People magazine in a joint interview with One Tree Hill co-star James Laferdy, published November 6th. I remember I begged and pleaded, begged and pleaded, “Please, I don’t need to be there. There is no need for Lucas Scott to be there. If you really want to do it, fine. go ahead and write the scene, but it’s terrible. For Chad, who felt more confident sharing his ideas by the show’s sixth season, the sequence made him pause,” he tells The Outlet, “I remember I started to care a lot more, and I started to really get more involved. I was older and starting to try and take ownership of my things. I was probably 25.
