Prince Harry’s recent meeting with his father, King Charles, might have been overshadowed by the Andrew Mountbouten Windsor scandals, but with the British royal family desperate for the narrative to be anything other than the disgraced former prince and his association with Jeffrey Epstein, this might just be the time for Prince Harry. That is, if he’s really interested in more than the reconciliation with his family that he’s already said he wants.

The Telegraph is reporting that Harry’s recent trip to Canada, where he met with “veterans, members of the armed forces community, and military charities to mark Remembrance Sunday,” might just be a message to his father that he can carry out work on behalf of the royal family, all while living abroad.

Harry’s “two-day visit to Toronto has been described by some as something of a marker in the sand, a statement of intent,” the outlet reporting. A source told the publication that it showed a “grown-up statesman-like Harry,” who is “proving his value” to King Charles, while “demonstrating where his life was headed.”

The outlet even speculated that the visit could be seen as a “subtle pitch to his father,” sending the message, “See how useful I could be?”

Whether that means Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, much less their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, ever go back to being working royals, remains to be seen. For now, that decision rests with King Charles, but at some point in the future it will rest with Prince William, and reports about the relationship between Harry and William indicate things are still frosty.

All of this comes after earlier this year some rumors indicated Harry and Meghan had to let go of several of their staff, with some reports indicating it was a money issue. “This isn’t strategy — it’s survival,” one source told celebrity gossiper Rob Shuter. “They’re running out of money, and now they’re running out of people.”

Another source indicated the problem was monetary. “They don’t have the money to keep the team they built,” the source said. “They tried to recreate the royal court — but California doesn’t do crowns on credit.”

Considering Harry and Meghan’s net worth, this report is probably inaccurate, though. Or perhaps, just a matter of perception. Markle recently discussed money while speaking to billionaire Spanx founder Sara Blakely on an episode of the podcast “Confessions of a Female Founder,” coming clean about the constant “fear” of not having enough.

“So many women, especially, we’re taught to not even talk about money,” Markle said. “And there’s lots of guilt mentality surrounding having a lot,” she explained. “And at the same time, there’s a scarcity mindset that it’s easy to attach to, of like ‘I’ll never have enough.”

With another Netflix deal in place, and Markle even returning to acting, it’s doubtful that the two need to go back to being working royals. But that doesn’t mean Prince Harry doesn’t want to reconcile with his family, and perhaps even take his kids to the UK.
