Kate Middleton shared a fact about her son Prince George while meeting veterans on Armistice Day

The Princess of Wales told a Royal Air Force veteran that George, 12, “knows more about aircraft than I do”

The comment comes just days after Prince George made his debut at a major royal event alongside his mom

Prince George may only be 12, but he’s already very knowledgeable!

Kate Middleton chatted about her eldest son’s key interest during an Armistice Day outing on Tuesday, Nov. 11. After attending a Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum, the Princess of Wales, 43, met with a few World War II veterans, including Geoffrey Spencer.

During their chat, Princess Kate learned about Spencer’s service in the Royal Air Force and flying Lancaster Bombers. According to PA reporter Stephanie Wareham, the topic made Kate think of Prince George, who she said was a “big fan” of the heavy bomber and enjoys making Airfix models.

“He knows more about aircraft than I do,” the Princess of Wales confessed.

Prince George’s interest comes as no surprise. Prince William flew helicopters for the RAF Search and Rescue Force in Wales, and he seems to have passed his love of aviation down to his children. Since he was very young, George has been seen getting excited to explore helicopters, planes and more, including during a 2016 visit to the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. The entire family — including Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — returned to the event in 2023, where Prince George was spotted testing out controls and touring various aircraft.

Aviation isn’t Prince George’s only area of expertise, either. In a conversation with Eugene Levy on the Apple TV series The Reluctant Traveler, Prince William admitted that his eldest son has him beat in history.

While showing the actor around Windsor Castle, the Prince of Wales confessed that he was perhaps not the most qualified tour guide.

“If you want to know about history, I’m not the guy,” William, 43, admitted. “Actually, George, my son, is way better in history than I am. I have to check with him now on my dates. I think I probably need some history lessons…I could do with that.”

Princess Kate’s latest comment about Prince George comes after the young royal made his debut at a major royal event over the weekend. George accompanied his mother as they joined King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Royal British Legion’s annual Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall in London.

Prince William usually attends the event with his wife. However, PEOPLE understands that the Prince of Wales is traveling home on a commercial flight from Belém, Brazil — where flight options are limited — and returned to the U.K. in time for Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph the following morning.
