DWTS’ Tom Bergeron Issues Message to ABC in Final Guest Judge Moment | E! News
This show is setting ratings records again. So, next season, bring back the results show. Tom Berseron is calling out ABC for its formatting. During his time as guest judge on the 20th anniversary episode of Dancing with the Stars on November 11th, marking his first time back in the ballroom since his shocking firing in 2020, Tom used his last moments on camera to issue a plea to ABC. All right, you guys were great, but in my last comments as a judge, I want to talk to the network. This show is setting ratings records again. So, next season, bring back the results show. Let the whole country vote. The request refers to the former two episode format of Dancing with the Stars, which saw the performances on one night followed by a results episode the next night in which the couple with the lowest score and least votes was eliminated, allowing for a bigger voting window. As Tom further explained to the Hollywood Reporter ahead of his return to the ballroom, quote, “I always mourn the loss of that Tuesday show, I thought it made the voting more fair across the country because the West Coast can’t vote now unless they’re watching on wherever the hell you’d watch it streamed live.” Tom made his return to the hit show after his shocking exit in 2020 due in part to his relationship with the former showrunner. However, the ABC series original showrunner, Conrad Green, who left after season 27 only to return for season 31, was the reason Tom decided to make his return. He tells the magazine, quote, “I couldn’t be happier that the people who are running the show now are running the show. But to be honest, the 20th anniversary in other people’s hands would not have lured me back. [Music]
