Olivia Holt has a new role on ‘Cruel Summer’ | Page Six Radio #shorts
And speaking of double hats, you’re double hating Cruel Summer. You’re EPing this upcoming season. What inspired that? And is that exciting, scary, a mix of both? All of the above. Yeah, I’m very honored to be coming back and to be playing Kate again. It It was such a fun role to create and to jump on board as a EP is It is It’s It’s overwhelming, but all of the best emotions. It’s been like the best challenge of my life so far. And is this your first time EPing a project? Yeah. Oh my god. So, what what are you what are you learn like what are you doing? What are you learning? Is it so is it a crazy learning curve? I mean, yeah. I’m soaking up so much knowledge and we’re still very early in the pre-production process, but I mean working alongside the same producers that we had on the first season that I was on, Jessica Beal, Michelle Purple, like they’re, you know, icons in itself and have created so many wonderful jobs for people. But this show in particular, it’s not an easy show to make. If you’ve seen the show, it jumps back and forth between three different timelines. And so when you’re looking at it on a page, it’s kind of hard to envision what the execution is going to look like, which I didn’t know going in on first season as just an actor. And now seeing how we develop these scripts has been a it’s been a while. And I feel for your fans too, it’s going to feel so crazy cuz I remember like the first season of Sex in the City where SJP started to EP it and it was said like produced by I was like, “Oh, we’re meeting a lot of business here.” Like I feel your fans are going to be so extra proud of you. I hope so. I hope so. I, you know, obviously like with every project that I do, I want to feel like I’m not only evolving as an artist, but also as a human. And I feel like they’ve been on the journey with me for a long time. So I yeah, I’m I’m very very grateful for this opportunity. And people go feral for Cruel Summer. Like such What What do you make of the crazy fandom around the show? Did you expect it? No. I I I really had no idea what to expect and like I said, making this show is really tricky and I my headsp space when we were making the show was just very locked in on what are we doing and like how is this going to turn out and the show actually started coming out while we were still filming for a season. So, we got to Yeah. Isn’t that it rarely happens. Sometimes you wait like years before something comes out. So, we were very lucky in that way. But um yeah, people went hard for this show. Like they love loved it. Are you obsessed with your character, Kate? Like, do you love her? I love her. Yeah, I do. I mean, she has so many interesting layers to her, which as an actor is like the best thing in the world because you just really get to play. But um yeah, I’m I’m very excited for people to see what she’s up to in this third season. [Music]
