Jimmy Kimmel Breaks Down in Tears During Cleto Escobedo Tribute | E! News

Jimmy Kimmel is honoring his band leader and longtime best friend, Cleto Escobedo III. The leader of the Jimmy Kimmel Live band passed away at the age of 59, November 11th. Speaking on their beginnings, Jimmy tells his audience, “There was a boy who lived on my block. He lived across the street and two houses over.” We became like 247 mom, please let me sleep over, please kind of friends. We were never bored. We were always up to something. Ultimately, Cleto formed a music career playing saxophone for Paul Abdul before Jimmy got his own talk show and asked the musician to lead his house band. And the idea that anyone other than him would lead the band was terrifying. It had to be him. After setting up Cleto’s audition, he nailed it and got the part alongside his dad, Cleto Senior. So Jimmy and his childhood best friend have been working together now almost everyday for 23 years. Speaking on Cleto’s wife and kids, Jimmy says through tears, “They had two beautiful kids, Jesse and Cruz, who Cleo loves so much, and I hope I can remind them as they grow up how much he loves them because it’s a lot.” And um I mean, everyone loves Cleo. He’s everyone here at the show, we are devastated by this. And ultimately, he finishes with a powerful message. I want to thank Cleo’s parents, Cleo and Sylvia, for for making him and for sharing him with me and with all of us. Cherish your friends. We’re not here forever. [Music] [Music]

    1. Hey, isn't this the guy that recently made callous and insensitive remarks regarding Charlie Kirk's murder? And now we're suddenly suppose to care about his emotional distress? Same guy that got his start objectifying women. This dude apparently only cares about life when it suits him. He reeks of disingenuousness, I'm not buying the crocodile tears. Every death is a tragedy.
