‘Christy’ star Sydney Sweeney, Scooter Braun on ‘cozy igloo’ date at NYC ice rink
Temperatures are dropping in New York City, but that means it’s perfect time for cozing up. Here with more is senior reporter Mara Seagler. Who’s cozing up in New York? Um, so Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun were in New York this weekend. She was on Good Morning America to promote her new movie Christy about um the former professional boxer Christy Martin, which is like real Oscar bait. But so the pair were all around the city and they were doing really cozy like holiday wintry New York City stuff. This looked like a Hallmark romcom. It’s so cute. It did. Um, so they were photographed outside of Brian Park holding hands, but we got the exclusive details. Um, a spy had told me that they were at something. It’s called a cozy igloo and it’s like one of those clear dome things and I’m sure it’s like it’s not that cold here yet, but I’m sure it’ll be heated. And it’s right by the rink in Bryant Park, so you can watch the skaters. And I’m told that they were there with a couple of pals and that they had hot chocolate and chicken fingers and all of this stuff. She since posted um a picture of it on Instagram, but we were told that they were very low-key and anonymous, but it looked like they were having fun. And how much did these igloos igloos go for? Couple hundred and you get a couple hours, a little VIP section. Um so the igloos are open actually they weren’t open yet when Sydney and Scooter were there. So apparently some strings were pulled at the park for them, which I kind of love that they’re like, “Um, she’s the it girl. Pull some strings.” They’re not getting into like a hot nightclub. They’re like, “We want to go to Brian Park. Pull those strings.” Um, but so people can rent. They’re open to the public um as as of now. Um, and they’re I think about 250 to five something depending on how many people you have and you get it for an hour and a half. That’s great. On a really cold day, that’s so romantic. You know, this is this is equivalent to, you know, the horsedrawn carriage or something like that. Very New York. Yeah. You get your cer. You get to watch people skating. They also have a lot of shopping over there. It’s like it’s whole win. It’s called the winter village. And it’s really cute over there. And um I heard that they also did some shopping, but my spy did not know if they bought anything. Right. I mean, I love Sydney’s jacket that she was wearing in this the kind of the the fake furlined, you know, bomber jacket. Very cool. Yes. And then they went right after that. So they did Good Morning America to Brian Park with their pals and then they were photographed also taking a stroll through Central Park and they were sitting on a rock smooching smooching public PDA. See, it’s not that cold, but it’s also not that warm. It’s not warm enough for make out on a rock season in my opinion, but I’m happy for our girl Sid. Isn’t every season make out on a rock season? Sure. Sure. I mean, so Scooter and Sydney are getting serious. Is this a sign that it’s not just a a rebound, you know? So, I had talked to a source um I think it was last month who said this is not a casual thing. Um he this is the first time he’s dated publicly since his split with his now ex-wife. Um he has children. He’s somebody who’s like, you know, he made the careers of Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande. He’s not someone who’s going to go out and like be with some random people. I’m told that he keeps his inner circle very close. So, the fact that they’re being so public is definitely a sign. Now, Sydney also just split over the summer from her fiance, which they were spotted together. Yeah. In Los Angeles. It wasn’t such a, you know, friendly encounter. She was in a car with him in Los Angeles. Jonathan Deino, a movie producer, and there seemed to be a bit of a public argument. Um, a source told TMZ that she was heard yelling at him like, “I don’t believe you.” So, whatever happened between them clearly wasn’t good. But I’m surprised they lasted as long as they did because while they were together in the public eye, that’s when the whole Glenn Powell, anyone But you PR scheme was was cooked where Sydney and Glenn were pretending to date or allowing the rumors to fly. And meanwhile, she was she was engaged to Jonathan Devino, but they obviously called off the engagement. I mean, I think the thing with that is if you’re a famous beautiful woman and I mean, I think there was another one where she gave like Machine Gun Kelly a hug somewhere. People are like, “Oh my god.” you know, like it’s like these people do have friends. Um, and obviously these two, Glenn Palins and East Sweeney starred in a movie together and it looked like they got along, so good for them. Exactly. Um, but yeah, so that was people were kind of wondering what was going on with Scooter after this like ex meet up. Um, but apparently I mean maybe that’s why they’re smooching in the park, you know, they need to let people know this is this is still a thing. That’s so great. And you know, at this point, anything Sydney Sweeney does, we’re going to talk about it. You know, from the American Eagle, you know, jeans campaign. Yeah. Which, you know, it depends on how you look at it. Any press is good press. And this week, she also uh I noticed, you know, declined an opportunity to apologize for the ad. She was like, “When I have something to say, people will hear it.” Well, American Eagle also didn’t apologize. You know, I think it’s one of those things where there was like internet chatter and people can think it was, you know, whatever they think about it, but I don’t think they were at the point where they weren’t going to say that they were sorry. She’s been in a lot of ads. She’s got so many ad campaigns. She’s done stuff with Miumu. She did that thing with that one company where they sold soap made out of her bath water. Um, which I think people also found to be controversial. Is she at risk at risk of overexposure at this point? I mean, her face is everywhere. She’s at the World Series at this point. Like we’re seeing Sydney at every turn. I I I’ve wonder I mean I think this movie is she did the like Charize Theren sort of like she gained 30 pounds of muscle. She learned how to actually box. Yeah. It’s going to really show off her acting chops in a way where I don’t I don’t it’s not like oh I’m the pretty blonde girl type of role. She’s really like digging her teeth into you know her thespian journey or whatever. Um, and we all know if if you’re a beautiful person who puts on a prosthetic nose or goes the Don’t do that, people. Yeah, that’s that doesn’t work out well. It worked for Nicole Kidman. She won an Oscar for Virginia Wolf. Okay. Okay. But she since, you know, I was thinking Bradley Cooper and Yeah. Well, yeah. Yeah, exactly. I If the beautiful people of Hollywood, you know, rough it up a little bit for an Oscar bait movie. It sometimes works out in their in their favor at this point. Anything Sydney does or wears gets headlines, turns heads. Of course, she’s stunned in that see-through top at the Variety event. Yes, the Variety Power of Women event. She looked amazing. Um, you know, really showing off the figure, and I I thought she looked stunning. And in her speech, she she talked about how she was uh you know, underestimated because of her looks, you know, as a typical, you know, a blonde beautiful actress in Hollywood. And you know, I I first took notice of her in The White Lotus. You know, she was on Euphoria at the time. White Lotus, she’s was a scene stealer and now she she’s so good. So good. And now she’s a movie star. It’s really Yeah. And she might have an Oscar nomination under her belt pretty soon. She might. Things are heating up this winter for Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun. A spy tells us they spotted the “Euphoria” star and the music maven with pals at the Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park in one of the private “Cozy Igloos,” located right by the ice rink with a view of the skating action. “The group was trying to stay anonymous,” says our source. “But it looked like they were having fun!” The outing was on Tuesday, after Sweeney’s appearance on “Good Morning America.” ON the ABC show, the star promoted her upcoming film “Christy,” based on the life of former boxing champ Christy Martin.
