DWTS’ Bobby Bones Returns Mirrorball Trophy Over Tom Bergeron Diss | E! News
Bobby Bones says he returned his Dancing with the Stars Mirrorball trophy over a disc from Tom Berseron. The former Dancing with the Stars host apologizes for recently throwing shade at the season 27 winner, saying his victory was the most surprising moment during his time at the show from 2005 to 2019. Tom tells Parade in an interview published on November 11th, “The thing that shocked me most was a win. Bobby Bones. That was when I went, “Uh, Bobby Bones was the first time I was like, “Ouch.” No disrespect to Bobby. He would probably say the same thing. But Bobby clapsed back at Tom’s criticism in an Instagram video on November 12th, even saying that he decided to return the Mirrorball trophy that he earned alongside his pro partner Sha Burges. Like, it’s crazy the amount of hate I get even from people that I respect like Tom Burgers on there. Like six years later, I’m still catching strays out of nowhere. So, I sent the trophy back. They don’t want me to be a part of the show, obviously. So, I don’t want to be somewhere that doesn’t want me to be there. So, I sent the trophy back to ABC. I no longer have the Mirrorball trophy. And following Bobby’s candid video, Tom speaks out to express his regret, writing on his Instagram story on November 12th, “I was doing so many interviews leading up to the 20th, I was bound to say something ineloquently.” Additionally, Tom shares a screenshot of a DM he sent to Bobby, explaining that it was not my intention to hurt your feelings. I feel like Tom wasn’t being mean spirited… I feel that reaction is dramatic.
Seriously, people don't know how to take opinions or criticism anymore. They just want to call it hate. Nothing he said was hateful. Maybe hurtful, yes.

Glad Tom called it out. It never should have belonged to you. It belonged to your voters due to their many voting skills but not your dancing. This video is coming from the guy who put up self-roast billboards in Nashville and tried to convince everyone it wasn’t him. This whole video just screams Billboard Bobby all over again. 🙄

~ I just saw the headlines…Looked at Bobby's dancing clips…He is an entertaining dancer & deserved the trophy, just as much as any other winner, who wasn't the best, yet received the win….Tom started this mess…He couldn't even answer the question, but flipped it to be what he wanted it to be ( just so he could bully Bobby.)…I stopped watching DWTS years ago. It is rigged by judges/production, & also is a popularity voting contest..My message to Bobby is, never give back something you worked hard for & won… That grown senior citizen, is not a dancer, was only a judge. He intentionally was a bully…. Point. Blank _ Period … DWTS production, I don't know Bobby from a can of paint, but he's obviously, deeply hurt……. Respect him, have some empathy. Give Bobby his trophy back!

It was something that you all worked on. The cast. But you didn't deserve to win. You are belittling the people that gave their heart and soul and lost to you who trolled for votes. You never deserved to win.
Bobby Bones you won fair and square based on the setup of the show! America voted for you. So why return your trophy if you won fair and square? If you're in the limelight you're going to be talked about regardless. You don't see Taylor Swift or Beyonce returning their trophies because some people didn't agree with their wins. Tom Bergeron was focused on dancing skills and I truly feel that some of the judges also tend to forget that America has to vote too and that this is not merely a "best dancer" competition! Because you can be the best dancer, but very unlikable and thus sent home by America. Bobby go get your trophy back. The victim mentality is not a good look on you!

I honestly don't believe Tom said it to be hurtful. A lot of people were shocked. Bobby's feelings were hurt enough to give back the mirror ball trophy?!?! That's a bit much. I have watched DWTS since its conception and if there is one thing I've learned is that it's really not a dance competition as it is a popularity contest. At the beginning of each show they announce that the voting is open. What does that tell you?? I don't need to watch all the competitors, I can immediately vote for the person I want to win regardless if they are good or bad compared to the other competitors. Some, like Bobby, had an unfair advantage due to the fact he didn't have dance experience. Yet he won despite that, more than likely due to his fan base. Personally I would love to see the competitors have no dance background or experience so that they all start off on an even playing field. That makes it fair for all. I do miss Tom on the show and again I just can't see him intentionally being hurtful to someone like Bobby. I hate the fact that people are overly sensitive nowadays.
