Watch Tom Cruise ‘vibe’ and bust out a move to celebrate Debbie Allen’s honorary Oscar

[Music] Tom Cruz busted out some dance moves with Debbie Allen at a party on Saturday, a day before they received their honorary Oscars at the Governor’s Awards 2025. In a video shared to Instagram by DJ Dice, the Mission Impossible actor and the fame star danced to the 1981 hit Before I Let Go at a party hosted by the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Los Angeles. In the video, the Top Gun star and the famed choreographer danced with Blackish actress Jennifer Lewis and Allen’s older sister, Felicia Rashad. Several fans took to the comments section to praise Cruz’s dancing skills. Tom’s having a blast. Go Tom. Last night was a vibe. The day after the party, both Cruz and Allen along with Dolly Parton and Win Thomas received their honorary Oscars at the Governor’s Awards, which was held at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood, California. At 63, still the biggest movie star in the room full of them, finally got to hold his own Oscar on a Hollywood stage on Sunday night and shared an emotional speech. Making films is not what I do, it is who I am. The gold honorary statueette celebrated his more than 40 years at the apex of the industry at the film academyy’s annual Governor’s Awards. A competitive Oscar has eluded Cruz, who’s been nominated four times as an actor for 1989’s Born on the Fourth of July, 1996’s Jerry Maguire, and 1999’s Magnolia, and as a producer for 2022’s Top Gun Maverick. And I want you to know that I will always do everything I can to help this art form, to support and champion new voices, to protect what makes cinema powerful, and uh, you know, hopefully without too many more broken bones. That would be nice. Oscarwinning director Alejandro Gonzalez Inaritu presented Cruz with the award. The two have spent several months shooting a film in London set to release in 2026. The collaboration suggests that Cruz, who has stuck to Blockbuster franchise fair in recent years, might not be done trying to win an Academy Award the old fashioned way.
