Meghan Markle’s ex-husband Trevor Engelson knew the actress would lock up Prince Harry after discovering they were dating, according to Bethenny Frankel.

We didn’t think we’d ever be saying Meghan and Frankel in the same sentence, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently attended a Kris Jenner birthday party so maybe these are just the circles the California royals are running in these days.

Frankel, formerly of Bravo reality shows The Real Housewives of New York and Bethenny Getting Married, recently appeared on The Toast podcast where she claimed Engelson knew Meghan would be hitching her wagon to Harry’s horse as soon as their romance went public.
The SkinnyGirl entrepreneur briefly dated Engelson after they met at Chicago’s Soho House in 2016 — the same year Meghan and Harry started dating.
“He said his ex was a woman from a show called Suits. I didn’t know what the show was. I didn’t know the woman,” Frankel told host Claudia Oshry.

“Months later, I see pictures showing Harry’s dating someone and I texted (Engelson) to be like, ‘Is this your ex?’ And he’s like, ‘Yup.’”
The Bethenny host claimed she asked Engelson, “Do you think she’s going to close?”
Engelson allegedly replied with confidence, “Oh, she’ll close.”
Frankel added: “I don’t want to get into more about that, but he was like, ‘She’ll close.’”
Meghan and Engelson’s relationship timeline
The former Deal or No Deal briefcase girl and Engelson, a producer, began dating in 2004. They wed in August 2011, but split two years later. By 2014, they were officially divorced.
Engelson shares three children with wife Tracey Kurland, who he married in May 2019 — a year after Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding following a six-month engagement.

“50 pounds of s— in a five-pound bag”
Harry and Meghan stepped back from their duties as senior royals to move to the U.S., resulting in a royal rift with Harry’s family.
Frankel lauded Meghan for how she has handled life as a royal. The former talk show host called her “wonderful,” adding she was “so great for the monarchy,” but said she disagreed with their decision to move from the U.K.
“Through Netflix, through them trying to put 50 pounds of s— in a five-pound bag, it just seemed like had they been managed properly or really been strategic, like played chess, it would’ve been such a different outcome,” Frankel said.
As for the Sussexes’ drama with the Kardashian family, Frankel noted: “Meghan is trying to be so many different things. And I just don’t think that she herself is fully aware of who she is.

“It’s very difficult to be front and centre at the Kardashian 70th party and then also be many of the things she wants to be.”

What Frankel didn’t weigh in on was Meghan’s latest Christmas collection, which has sparked backlash by many after her “muted tones” comment about life with the royal family.
Meghan recently teased and shared videos of the holiday collection for her brand As Ever, but it was her in an olive green (the most muted of the shades of green) dress as she tended to a beige and brown stocking amid the neutral Christmas décor that set fans off.
“Oh, we see you! Not even Thanksgiving yet, and you’ve already got this in the bag,” Markle captioned the post.

Meghan dreaming of blah Christmas?
A quick glance at As Ever’s most recent posts and beige and brown appear to be the esthetic, from the décor and wrapping to the food and drink, with many on social media noting the irony.
“A color scheme can be a beautiful thing, but a Christmas one based on the color brown is tricky as all get out! She and the artistic team missed the mark in a very big way w/this pretentious attempt at chicness,” one user wrote on X.
Another noted: “She just can’t be honest and admit that she likes beige. And there is nothing wrong with that. The only problem is, she should just admit that she lied about having to wear the color while in the UK.”

In the 2022 Netflix series Meghan & Harry, the former actress revealed she “rarely wore colour” during her time in England.

“To my understanding, you can’t ever wear the same colour as Her Majesty if there’s a group event, but then you also shouldn’t be wearing the same colour as one of the other more senior members of the family,” she said in the series.
“I wore a lot of muted tones, but it was also so I could just blend in.
“I’m not trying to stand out here. There was no version of me (that was) joining this family and trying not to do everything I could to fit in. I don’t want to embarrass the family.”
