OJ Simpson estate signs off on $58M for Ron Goldman’s father

OJ Simpson’s estate is finally ready to pay up. Three decades after the murders of Ron Goldman and OJ Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. On June 12th, 1994, they were brutally slain outside her Brentwood home. He was 25, she was 35. The televised OJ trial in the9s divided the nation, including one high-profile family. Robert Kardashian, Chris Jenner’s first husband, and Kim, Courtourtney, Khloe, and Rob’s dad, was one of O.J.’s lawyers. OJ Simpson was famously acquitted of double homicide, but a few years later, Ron Goldman’s father, Fred, won a wrongful death civil lawsuit against the football legend. The original judgment was for $33.5 million. It went largely unpaid during Simpson’s lifetime. His estate refused to pay, but that all seems to be changing now. In the latest deal, Goldman sought a sum exceeding $17 million plus interest. But after negotiations, the Simpson estate signed off on half that to the tune of 57,997,858 12. OJ had denied involvement in the killings in his civil trial testimony, but ultimately a jury found him liable after 3 days of deliberation. They initially awarded the Goldman family $8.5 million in compensatory damages and another 25 million in punitive damages split equally between the Goldman’s and the Browns. But that number has ballooned over three decades of unpaid bills. Malcolm Lever, the executive of the estate, told TMZ they’ll pay as much as possible and they’ll have to use ongoing auctions of O.J.’s possessions to do so, including recovering allegedly stolen memorabilia. In 1995, OJ walked a free man. But then in 2007, he was arrested for confronting sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room. In a stunning second fall from grace, he was convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping and sentenced to 33 years behind bars. He served nine before being granted parole in 2017. He passed away at the age of 76 from prostate cancer in April 2024. Till the end, he was never stripped of his Pro Football Hall of Fame status. His bus remains on display there in Canton, Ohio.

Ron Goldman’s dad Fred Goldman may be closer to finally receiving payment from OJ Simpson’s estate — nearly three decades after winning a wrongful death judgment in a civil case against Simpson, who was acquitted of killing his son and Nicole Brown Simpson. The estate executor accepted Goldman’s creditor claim for $57,997,858.12 plus interest.
