‘DWTS’ Robert Irwin Reveals Good Luck Charms From Dad Steve Irwin | E! News

Robert Irwin is honoring his father, Steve Irwin’s legacy. On November 17th, the 21-year-old shares two videos to Instagram detailing his current good luck charms while competing on season 34 of Dancing with the Stars, including the sweet way he pays tribute to the late Crocodile Hunter, who died in 2006. In the first video, Robert can be seen wearing his dad’s green button-down shirt. This is my dad’s shirt. Tattered and had holes and all sorts in it. So, I went and got it all fixed up. New buttons attached, everything all patched back up again and all the holes repaired. I like that it still looks and feels like him. The environmental advocate reveals that he begins every show day by putting on the shirt for his dress rehearsals. Before you guys see my dance in costume, I’ve always done that dance at least once in dad’s shirt. just keeps me close to home. It keeps me close to him. It just feels like a big hug. Um, every time I put it on, every time I step out into the ballroom, I represent my message, my dad legacy, my home, my family. It is such an honor to get to do that. Robert shares in the second video that every Tuesday he also wears a gold ring made of the keys from his childhood home and engraved with 1638, a nod to the Australia Zoo and his family’s home. located at 1638 Steve Irwin Way. The wildlife conservationist who is about to compete in the semifinals then reflects on his time on the show and how it’s given him multiple opportunities to honor his dad sharing it’s the most beautiful experience and in some way I want him part of it because this experience has truly changed my life and I know I wouldn’t be here without him and his legacy that I get to continue. just so grateful that I’m heading into the home stretch. This is it. I’m doing this for a purpose and a cause that is close to my heart. Before anything else, I’m an animal conservationist. I proudly continue the work that my mom and dad started. [Music]
