Tom Hanks loves the NYC subway so much he made a song about it: Listen

I’m here to make the following announcement. Tonight in the role of Bert Allenberry will be my understudy, Chaz Firestone. Now, he’s he’s he’s learned almost all the lines. It’s going to be all right. Ladies and gentlemen, I want just want to say uh there is proof that there is a God because Kenny Leon came to us to direct this world of tomorrow. He is a Yeah, I cannot tell you about the blessing that has come about us because of his guidance and his uncompromising uh let’s just call itess. How about that? Can I say that at the shed? Um we are all back. We have a cast that is literally a combination of angels in heaven as well as the 1927 Yankees. Uh Kelly O’Hara, Ruben Santiago Hudson, J Sanders, uh Donald Weber. I I it’s a it’s a magnificent cast to be a part of. But um outside of the uh the words on the page is an elusive idea of how to communicate something beyond the page itself. And this does not happen without the guidance of a man who asks all the right questions, gives all the right orders, and constantly begins every day with a question of what have you learned about the human condition and this world beyond this rehearsal hall and this theater. Uh we are blessed to be a part here with Alex Poots and the shed. God knows New York could use some culture and so it’s nice to have a notfor-profit cultural center because who’s going to trust, you know, the rest of this cuckoo city? Um, I can’t tell you how great it is to be here at the shed every day because why? Because it is officially the last stop on the seven train. Uh, it is it is so easy to get to. I’m going to run back there. We’re just getting ready for our vocal warm-ups. We did a line run through because everybody gets so tanked and wasted on our days off. Uh most of the most of the cast has forgot even the characters that they play. I’m going to go back and remind them of that. But I would just like to ask everybody to remember when someone says, “Oh, you’ve been to the shed. You saw a play down there. Did you see Kenny Leon’s production of This World of Tomorrow?” What the he said? Yeah, I did. Well, how did you get there? Well, it’s easy because the shed is in Hudson Yards. On the lower west sign off the highline that fell down. Yeah. On the lower west side. Off the high line in Hudson Yards. I said it’s the shed. It’s the shed off the high line on the lower west side by the Hudson Yards. On the lower west side of the Highline is the shed. It’s the Hudson Yards. Thanks for coming everybody. We will see her. Thank you.

Tom Hanks really, really loves the New York City subway system — so much so that he penned a song about it.

The actor enthusiastically crooned a self-penned ditty praising the number 7 train at a gala celebrating The Shed, a non-profit cultural center Tuesday evening.

“I can’t tell you how great it is to be at The Shed every day,” he said in his speech. “Why? Because it is officially the last stop on the 7 train.”

The Oscar winner then sang while snapping his fingers, “The Shed is in the Hudson Yards on the Lower West Side off the High Line. Yeah, The Shed on the Lower West Side off the High Line in Hudson Yards!”
