Jimmy Kimmel Live! Band Changes Name After Cleto Escobedo’s Death | E! News
The Jimmy Kim Alive house band has officially changed its name. A week after band leader Cleto Escobido III passed away, the musical group debuts their new title during the November 17th episode of the late night talk show. As the opening credits roll, it’s revealed the band, which used to be called Cleo and the Cleones, will now simply go by the Cleones. This update comes after Jimmy announced the death of his longtime friend and coworker earlier this month. Writing in a November 11th Instagram post, “Early this morning, we lost a great friend, father, son, musician, and man. My longtime band leader, Cleo Escobido III. To say that we are heartbroken is an understatement.” He continued, “Clesto and I have been inseparable since I was 9 years old. The fact that we got to work together every day is a dream neither of us could ever have imagined would come true. Cherish your friends and please keep Cleto’s wife, children, and parents in your prayers. According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ November 14th, Cleto’s cause of death was determined to be cardiogenic shock, a condition where the heart is unable to pump enough blood through the body. He was 59 years old. [Music]
