I’m A Celebrity 2025 is well underway, bringing bushtucker trials and wild stories to our TV screens. However, our campmates have reportedly faced an unexpected challenge on the ITV show – with the cast evacuated and filming halted as conditions in the Australian jungle camp reportedly grew too dangerous to stay.

It’s been reported that all of our campmates – including the likes of Aitch, Jack Osbourne, Kelly Brook and Angry Ginge – were evacuated from the camp and moved to safety amid a thunderstorm.

Why was the I’m A Celebrity camp evacuated?

The storm plunged the camp into chaos, with production staff moving all 12 of our campmates into the Bush Telegraph for shelter. It’s known that the camp has the potential to flood during heavy rain, with previous reports saying small creeks surrounding the camp can surge from ‘a trickle to a torrent’ within minutes. With the rain and hail too extreme for the celebs to stay, filming of the show was said to have halted for around three hours.

However, fans of the show needn’t fear. The storm began to ease up after around two hours of torrential rain, with the cast then left facing the challenge of drying their now-soaked towels and bed sheets. A source told The Sun, ‘The camp was drenched and the storm caused filming issues, but everything is fine now.’

While it’s our celebrities first time experiencing a jungle downpour, it certainly isn’t the wider team’s. The I’m A Celeb crew are well prepared for any shock weather changes, with a thunderstorm rocking this year’s camp before the show had even launched. Telling The Standard that plans are in place for any such emergency, a source said, ‘Our health and safety weather contingencies kicked in and we evacuated the celebrities immediately to the Bush Telegraph until the storm passed and it was safe to return to camp.’

When thunderstorms hit the camp, it isn’t only flooding that production staff have to worry about. The banks of the jungle can turn to slurry, bringing down an array of bugs and insects – including leeches, which have already been spotted in the jungle pool.

Just last year, the camp was evacuated twice due to rainfall – with McFly’s Danny Jones saying of their evacuation, ‘It was one of the hardest nights. The rain also meant the leeches were searching for you and I was literally on leech check every day.’

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV1, STV, ITVX, and STV Player.
