Why James Patterson Believes Marilyn Monroe Was Murdered | E! News

James Patterson says he believes Marilyn Monroe was murdered. The best-selling author shares his take on the 1962 death of the icon, speaking to the Hollywood Reporter ahead of the release of his new true crime book, The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe. And while his latest project includes a disclaimer in the fine print describing it as a quote work of fiction, the mystery surrounding the circumstances of the actress’s death has long been a source of speculation. And in the new interview, Patterson says in the leadup to her death, the actress was quote treading in very dangerous waters. He adds she had these incredible relationships with President Kennedy and with Robert Kennedy and with Sinatra and with mafia figures. They told her stuff and she kept track of it. She had information that was kind of dangerous. As for why the author is taking on the subject of Marilyn’s death, he says despite a decadesl long public fascination, a lot of people don’t know the story. Continuing the 11 foster homes, the fact that she had a pretty bad stutter when she was a kid. The author says, “I didn’t know much about the death scene, about the autopsy not being as complete as it should have been, that one of the detectives was convinced the scene was staged. The key is a lot of people know about her a bit, but not that much. You’d be surprised. E-News has reached out to Monroe’s estate for comment, but hasn’t heard back. For decades, questions have lingered about the death of the Hollywood star and whether the 1962 fatal drug overdose that killed her was a suicide, an accident, or an act of murder. In 1982, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office reopened an investigation into Marilyn’s death after reports circulated questioning the circumstances. At the time, the prosecutor’s office said, “Based on the evidence available to us, it appears that her death could have been a suicide or a result of an accidental drug overdose.” adding, “Our inquiries and document examination uncovered no credible evidence supporting a murder theory.
