James Van Der Beek’s Wife Says He’s “Bouncing Back” Amid Cancer Battle | E! News
James Vanderbeek is getting words of support from his wife, Kimberly. The former Dawson’s Creek star, who’s been battling stage three colon cancer for more than two years, is selling replicas of his character’s away game football jersey from the hit 1999 movie Varsity Blues, with the proceeds going to his own cancer treatment and supporting families walking the same path. In an Instagram video posted November 24th, the 48-year-old can be seen sporting the white and blue jersey, which bears his character’s name, Moxin, and number four on the back. He captions the video, quote, “By popular demand, my favorite jersey. Maybe it was all fun plays we got to run in the football sequences for the away games, but I always love putting on the varsity whites.” He continues, “Last year, when I released the Blues jersey, I was blown away by the love and support I received from all of you. It has meant more than I can ever express. In the comment section, his wife Kimberly writes, quote, “You’re a wizard. Bouncing back, baby.” As well as items from Varsity Blues. The actor announced earlier this month that he’s also offering up several items from his personal Dawson’s Creek collection in Prop Store’s winter entertainment memorabilia live auction that’s set to take place in December. In a statement posted to the UK company’s website, James writes, quote, “I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them. And with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it’s clear that the time is now.
