Meghan Markle took fashion-shoot dress for her ‘royal archive’: source

Megan Markle’s fabulous life leaves many of us green with envy, but now there’s some hubbhub about a green dress. Uh, here with more is our senior reporter, Mara Seagler. What’s going on with with Megan’s beautiful green dress? Um, so there was a dress that she wore for a cover shoot for Variety in 2022. It’s a emerald green dress by a brand called Galvin and it cost um $16.95. So $1,695. This is not an inexpensive dress. So during um Megan just dropped the teaser for her upcoming holiday special and fans noticed that this was the same dress that she wore for this variety cover shoot. So there were a lot of questions about what happened. And um basically I had two sources tell me that she took the dress but one source was saying that she did not ask which is very um it’s just not the correct etiquette for something like this right at a photo shoot they have expensive gowns and normally what is the what is the etiquette you know if if a celebrity wants to you know hold on to a dress what what would be the uh the proper steps there usually well so typically and this happens a It’s not unusual that a celebrity would love a dress that they’re wearing. So, um, normally if they ask, I I feel like a designer would probably give it to them or if it’s something that they can’t part with or it’s something particularly special, they would give them a discounted rate. Sometimes also, this dress might be promised, say that there’s a red carpet coming up in our or awards ceremony. They might need that dress back for a different celebrity that it’s been promised to or it might be a sample. So they might, you know, there’s lots of ways to go about it, but normally at the end of the day, you know, they would work it out so that this person would get the dress that they love. Absolutely. And, you know, I love that the fans have been watching the trailer for Megan’s new holiday special and they spotted this dress and they’re eagle-eyed. They’re they’re internet sleuththing. Another source had weighed in and told us that there was basically buzz that when Megan does these photo shoots that people are aware that she, you know, might keep the pieces if she wears them because as a royal, she needs to archive them. Now, that’s not actually royal protocol. Royals are actually working royals are not allowed to take free dresses. Um, so it’s sort of a strange um thing, but um, you know, I guess the thing is is that when certain royals, I mean, obviously this happened with Diana, the clothing gets auctioned off if these people are wearing it. And so it’s in order to keep people from not reselling the dress. Oh, I see. So the royal archive sort of protects um you know the black market from the resale market but it also gives the you know a chance for you know a philanthropic measure later on right I mean it’s sort of a strange thing because again this is not actually royal protocol I’m I’m told you know Kate Middleton or you know she would buy these dresses and then they would keep them. Um, so it’s still a little bit strange. After we published the story, a spokesperson for the Sussex’s commented, um, the insinuation that any items were taken without the full knowledge and agreement of the onset stylist or their respective teams was categorically false. The rep also told us that any items kept were done so in total transparency and in accordance with contractual arrangements. So basically they’re saying um she didn’t steal these but that you know if any of the items were kept that this was previously agreed upon. What you see on TV, what you see on the internet is not always doesn’t always add up, you know. Um well for more on this uh great story uh of course check out everything Mara writes on page six.com. Thanks so much Mara. Thank you.

Wardrobe… miscommunication? A source tells Page Six that Meghan Markle allegedly walked away from a 2022 Variety cover shoot with a $1,695 green gown because it was all part of “archiving” her clothes as a royal. Others are crying fashion foul. Markle had viewers doing double takes over the weekend when a trailer for her show, “With Love, Meghan Holiday Celebration,” showed her in a dress allegedly kept from a 2022 Variety cover shoot. A fashion source tells Page Six that Markle, “took the dress from the shoot without asking,” confirming rumblings that the pricey one-shoulder, emerald green Galvan “Ushuaia” gown had disappeared from the photo shoot. A second source confirmed to Page Six that Markle ended up with the dress. However, a third source told us that everyone’s getting their knickers in a twist over nada, claiming that Markle must take the clothes as a royal — and that the whole hubbub is likely “a misunderstanding.” A spokesperson for the Sussexes commented after our piece published: “The insinuation that any items were taken without the full knowledge and agreement of the on-set stylists or their respective teams” was “categorically false.” The rep also told us that, “Any items kept, were done so in total transparency and in accordance with contractual arrangements.” Page Six Senior Reporter Mara Siegler and Page Six Writer Brian Faas are recapping the royal mix up.

    1. Old Sticky fingers feel entitled to take whatever she wants. One of the reasons she would never fit in to being a real royal as it takes diginity and integrity. Shes is and will always be a boat girl.

    2. Imagine having so much and managing to turn it into not enough and worse – into nothing.
These two need to get grateful and quiet – very, very quiet – snd learn to enjoy their own company.
We’re not all cut out to be famous or royal or stand on stages or make TV shows… there’s nothing wrong with being bad at it, except when you insist you are.

Also clever way to re-name stealing. I worked in film TV for 28 years and the only time something was taken it was straight up called theft and the star paid for it rather than face charges.
