Andrew Mountbatten Windsor may no longer be a prince, but he still has a shot at becoming king. Despite King Charles III stripping his younger brother of his royal titles last month, the former Prince Andrew remains in the formal line of succession for the British monarchy. According to the royal family’s official website, November 26th, Buckingham Palace has updated Andrew’s name to reflect the loss of his style, titles, and honors, but still lists the 65-year-old as eighth in line to the throne, right behind Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Liizabeth, with the website explaining, “The succession to the throne is regulated not only through dcent, but also by parliamentary statute. The order of succession is the sequence of members of the royal family in the order in which they stand in line to the throne. And formally removing Andrew from that lineup would be a rather lengthy process. According to UK law, the change would require an act of parliament as well as approval from the 14 Commonwealth realms. So, it appears for now the British government seems content with the dubbed royal exile of Andrew following the news of his alleged ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. with the BBC reporting last month that Prime Minister Kier Starmer quote has no plans to introduce a law to change the line of succession.
