The first single, Midnight Sky, was released on August 14, 2020, and is about independence and self-confidence. The second single, Prisoner, was released on November 19, 2020, and relates to angst inspired by feelings and was described by critics as a "heartache anthem" and a "glam declaration of independence". The third single, Angels Like You, was released on April 21, 2021, and is about Cyrus addressing a romantic interest, giving them a warning that she's about to walk out on their relationship.
