Marissa Bode On Playing A Darker Side of Nessarose in ‘Wicked: For Good’

Nessa definitely shifts from the first film to the second film. When it comes to taking on the darker side of Nessa, I feel like that’s where I really got to play. Of course, like I put my heart into the first film and Nessa in the first film, but I think there there’s a lot more places to reach as to why Nessa ends up the way that she is. So, I journaled a lot as Nessa and in her mindset and definitely did my best to try to fill in a lot of the blanks that weren’t written in the script already. At the beginning of the film, you see her in the Governor’s Mansion, the setting itself, and just like her in general and the control she has in the room, it just feels very cold in a lot of ways. And of course, Nessa in the first film is a lot more bubbly and just like hopeful. As an actress, you you have to have some sort of obviously empathy for your character, which I definitely have. And I I would not recommend taking all the actions that Nessa does. I will say I fundamentally understand it not just as a human being but especially as a disabled person how her heart and the place that her heart goes to ends up in the way that it does and where her actions although I don’t agree with all of them where they uh end up taking her as Health.
