Goldie Hawn Cries as She Recalls Learning of Diane Keaton’s Death | E! News

I said, “Diane, you know what we should do?” I said, “When we get old, why don’t we live together?” She was like lightning in a bottle. There wasn’t anything that she couldn’t do. There wasn’t any world that she couldn’t live in. There was just she was just an extraordinary human being. Then came time when she passed and I happened to learn when I was in my backyard and I went over to my backyard to my rose garden and I just looked down at her house. She can’t be gone. She just cannot be gone. No one like that should ever die. She just brought so much joy, so much life, so much exuberance. I just remember that when we did this movie, we worked together. She was very tenacious. She’s an incredible hard worker. So the last day when we made the movie and I said Diane you know what we should do is when we get old why don’t we live together and we can swim in the pool and it’ll all be great. She went Yeah. Yeah. and um back to I couldn’t make her anyway. I just want to say that she’s like a lightning buck like a little lightning bug would light up over here and go try to catch her and then she’d light up over there and you try to catch her tried to catch Diane. She was on a journey. She never looked back and she was a pure pure whatever you want to call it. You call it stars, whatever. But I think that she is a star. Stars are really people who died a long time ago that did something really good for the world. I think maybe that’s where she is right now. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]

Goldie Hawn got very emotional as she paid tribute to her late friend Diane Keaton at The Hollywood Reporter’s Annual Women in Entertainment Gala Dec. 3. Goldie and Diane co-starred in 1996’s ‘The First Wives Club,’ alongside Bette Midler. During her speech, Goldie joked about making plans to live with Diane when they got older, but said she “couldn’t leave” Kurt Russell, her longtime partner.
